Germany radio online
Germany runs one of the strongest public broadcasting systems in Europe, organised by region rather than nationally. Each state broadcaster operates a family of stations — a news and culture channel, a classical channel, a pop channel and usually a youth channel — which is why a German station list looks repetitive until you notice the regional prefixes.
What to expect
On the private side, Germany is a European centre for electronic music radio. Techno, trance, minimal and house stations broadcasting from Berlin, Frankfurt and Cologne have been on the internet since streaming began, and many of them still run the format that made German club music matter in the first place.
German public broadcasters are generous with their streams: most offer them openly and in good quality, which is unusual in Europe.
